It isn’t often that I am listening to a record (yes, believe it or not, people in the industry still call them records) and I’m left speechless. That can be either a good thing or a bad thing. In the case of JChrist Remnant I wasn’t sure which it was until I got past the first song on their latest album. Having impressed me with his freshman album, I was really looking forward to The Voice’s follow up. I was more intrigued when I found out that it would be a 5 song EP, and if my sources are accurate, that would be offered for free. The remix to “Our God” features both Sammy Sayso and Eshon Burgundy; the latter received a great review a few months back. All these components should make for a solid lead off single. Finally catching up on some reviews from almost a year ago…..here we go. So I’m on ARA Paka Rippa’s reverbnation profile. And I read that he sounds like Tupac. You know that generally it is tall order to compare yourself to anyone in the secular, let alone a great like Tupac. I approached the song a little biased, as the memory of the invoked emotion of hearing “Dear Mama” for the first time is fresh in my mind. But none the less, I tarried. After quite the long hiatus, I went through my email to decide who I should review. Unfortunately, while at the 9 to 5, I couldn’t see all my emails (they are downloaded locally on my server), so I needed to go with the earliest one that I could find in my webmail. That being said, Nu Star’s track “Wave” featuring Neff, was the winner.
